Sri Navanandi Educational Society

The Sri Navanandi Educational Society took shape in 1989, with a view to fulfill the need for young educated citizens to take India into the future. Guided by the cause of pioneering quality education for nation’s deserving young minds, the society embarked on establishing a premier school at Nandikotkur in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh named as “SRI NAVANANDI HIGH SCHOOL”. The school is named after the “Nava Nandis (BULLS)”. present surrounding the village to remind the past glory of Cholas’ who ruled this area. The legend says that Nandikotkur is surrounded by nine bulls across the four corners of the place and hence the name Nava Nandikotkur. This small town has another two more feathers in its cap. The Sun Temple (Lord Suryanarayana Swamy) belongs to 9th-10th centuries is located here. Manikundala Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple is famous temple in this region. This is second such temple after Arasavelli in which main Deity is Sri Surya Narayana Swamy. The Ratha Sapthami festive is celebrated annually on a grand note. Unique thing about this temple was that Sun rays touch the feet of Deity during sunrise in Dhanurmasa. India’s second “Great Indian Bustard” bird sanctuary is located in Rollapadu which is 17km. away from Nandikotkur.

Keeping in view of the needs and limitations of this rural and agricultural background, the society has started an educational institution in 1989. Since its establishment the Sri Navanandi Educational Society family has today grown to a movement of more than one school in Nandikotkur with the strength of more than 1500. And the school bears the same mark of quality – be it in the high standards of education, infrastructure of the facilities provided to nurture the young minds. Our past achievements are par excellent when compared with many corporate institutions.
In addition to the formal education, the society is running an eduational center, especially meant for Dropouts and Never Enrolled Children, “Residential Special Training Centre” under the guidance of Rajiv Vidya Mission (Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan), Andhra Pradesh. The state government officials would monitor the functioning of the centre. It is aimed to identify, mobilise and enroll the dropout children and never enrolled children and train them according to their age and develop competencies among them, then readmit in the mainstream of formal education. This year nearly 40 children are identified and admitted as residential students in different classes. Separate classrooms and faculty have been provided for this.

In recognition of society’s service for the development of downtrodden children of the society, the school has got a recognition as “BEST AVAILABLE SCHOOL FOR S.T. AND S.C. STUDENTS’’ by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the Kurnool district with the kind consideration of respected District Collector of Kurnool district.
